Here's the latest edition of MOC's Desktop Councilor, an email newsletter aimed at keeping you up- to-date on MOC activities and programs that impact your business. Thank you for your continued membership support.

MOC's new website is now up and running. With the help of Greystone Services, Inc., www.massoilheat.org has a new modern design, easier navigation tools and more direct links. New items on the homepage include direct access to the previous day's degree days in 5 regions of Massachusetts, membership information, timely MOC and oilheat news stories and new resources labeled specifically for consumers and dealers. If you have any questions or comments while navigating through the new site please contact an MOC staff member.

As a member driven association, MOC is always striving to improve and expand our services to you. To that end, we need your feedback on what programs are most important and beneficial to your business, which ones could use some improvement, and what, if any, services do you need that we are not currently providing. Soon you'll be receiving a member survey in the mail and we hope you'll take a few minutes out of your busy day to complete this member survey. If you would prefer to take this survey on-line, you can access it at: http://www.superwebnet.com/moc/.

In tandem with the six other New England state Oilheat trade associations, and the Oilheat associations in New York and New Jersey, MOC is supporting a comprehensive public relations effort to help the Oilheat industry. MOC's Michael Ferrante was one of several state association executives who recently interviewed public relations firms to spearhead the effort and the group overwhelmingly chose Woodbury & Morse, based in Portland, Maine. The firm has many years of Oilheat industry experience and they have already started working on a number of important matters including making the public aware of the industry's efforts on CFTC and closing the Enron loophole in an effort to lower energy prices by putting more controls on speculative trading. MOC will soon be mailing dealers bill stuffers to encourage Oilheat consumers to contact Congress and urge support for Senator Levin's "Close the Enron Loophole Act."
MOC's membership directory and annual oilheat handbook, used by over 400 dealers and associates, contains vital information including natural gas and electric utility rate conversion tables, regulatory guidance, a list of your state representatives and senators, an update on the National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA) and many other useful resources.

The deadline to advertise in the 2008 edition is fast approaching. All contracts and advertising materials should be received by the Council no later than November 15. Please follow the link below for a contract form.

Also, MOC would like to have the most accurate and updated information on your company printed in the directory. If you have not done so already, please notify an MOC staff member if there have been any changes to your contact information.
A new fall edition of the Energy Watch brochure will be mailed out to dealers this week. The brochure is an excellent way to keep your customers informed on important changes and updates in the Oilheat industry and provide useful tips to help them save energy and money. If you would like additional copies, please contact the Council.
This weeks Preferred Vendor is Carlin Combustion Technology out of East Longmeadow. Carlin provides residential and commercial burners, controls and ignitors for oil and gas. For more information contact Tom Tubman at, 413-525-7700 or visit their website, www.carlincombustion.com.
