Here's the latest edition of MOC's Desktop Councilor, an email newsletter aimed at keeping you up- to-date on MOC activities and programs that impact your business. Thank you for your continued membership support.

As August comes to a close, it is just another reminder that winter is on the way and that means - the start of degree days. MOC's free dial-in degree day service will begin on September 1 and run through May 2008. This vital service includes prior day degree day totals, month to date totals, current season totals, prior season totals, and the degree day forecast for 4 days forward. To get your local recordings, simply dial 1-866-MASSOIL (627-7645) and press 20 for Boston, 21 for Worcester, 22 for Chicopee, 23 for Pittsfield and 24 for Hyannis.
MOC has joined with the Massachusetts Motor Transportation Association (MMTA) in filing an amicus in Boston Municipal Court in order to resolve serious impediments to the transportation of fuel oil and other petroleum products through the city of Boston. MMTA is a non-profit trade association comprised of over 250 trucking companies that transport hazardous and non-hazardous loads statewide. MOC and MMTA are asking the court to clarify the nexus of state, federal and city rules regarding truck routes in-and- around the city. MOC and MMTA maintain that the City of Boston and the Boston Police have overstepped their authority by stopping cargo vehicles and issuing citations that claim violations of hazardous material rules and routing. "This is a very serious matter that could have significant impact on our industry this winter, so MOC is pleased to join with MMTA in seeking a ruling that all parties can live with," said MOC's Michael Ferrante.
MOC will begin its month long travel around the state in mid September for 9 face-to-face meetings with Oilheat dealers, suppliers and other industry representatives. These free breakfast or lunch events are open to members and non-members and will be a great opportunity to get caught up on recent Council activities and a chance to discuss any other issues or concerns you may have. Please follow the link below to register for the meeting nearest to you.

In addition to hosting regional dealer meetings this fall, MOC will also be hosting NORA-funded seminars for Real Estate professionals under the MOC Oilheat-Realty Partnership Program. The free breakfast seminars allow for realtors to learn more about oilheat technology and get help selling oil heated homes. Dealers are encouraged to attend to help answer important questions and form relationships with agents in their area. Please call an MOC staff member if you are interested in attending any of the events listed through the link below.
MOC has received the newest Universal Road Atlases for the Metro Boston area and has them on sale for 20% off retail. Other Massachusetts regional atlases are also available. Please call MOC for more information and to place any orders.
Over 165 golfers were blessed with a sunny day at the Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth last Monday, August 20.
