The Green Communities Act of 2007

A new division will establish an energy efficiency and green communities program. The purpose of the program shall be to provide financial assistance, in the form of grants and loans, from the Massachusetts Energy Efficiency Trust Fund to municipalities and other governmental bodies that qualify as green communities pursuant to this section to finance the costs of studying, designing, constructing and implementing energy efficiency activities, including but not limited to, management services; installation of energy management systems; adoption of demand side reduction initiatives; adoption of energy efficiency policies; and the siting and construction of clean energy projects on municipally owned land.
